One of the hallmarks of Apple and its devices has always been its reliability, the iPhone and iPad work very well and are stable, but is that still the case lately?
The answer to the question in the previous paragraph is given by the same Apple, at least that is what Ina Fried de Aixos says , that in the article you see in the previous link, says that Craig Federighi announced to his team that new functions expected in iOS 12 should be postponed until 2019 to give priority to iOS performance, security and stability. Federighi wants a perfect operating system and this seems to be the only way to get it.
It seems that new functions, such as an update of the interfaces in the home and lock screens of the iPhone, as well as in the CarPlay, improvements in basic applications, such as mail and changes in the camera application, photo editing and sharing functions will be sacrificed.
Of course Apple will include new features in iOS 12, but we will never know exactly which ones have been excluded in order to offer us a better user experience.
In the personal field I must say that I have been using iOS devices for many years and it is true that for some time now I notice a greater number of failures in my devices. Problems such as the calculator or many other minor failures denote that something is wrong in Cupertino, the level of demand has fallen and, although iOS in my opinion iOS is still the best mobile operating system, you begin to notice too much.
Possibly Federighi's decision is correct, that iOS 12 brings us less news but in return we have an operating system that matches what is expected from Apple.
